Frequently Asked Questions

What are we planning to build? The building project will provide an entirely new campus for Koinonia Christian Fellowship on an 18 acre site on Highway 198 between 12th and 13th avenues. In the first phase, a 32,000 square feet building will be constructed which will house two auditoriums and eleven classrooms. The main auditorium will seat more then one thousand people and a smaller auditorium will seat approximately two hundred. Adequate, well-lit parking will provide easy access to the building. Why build now? We've reached capacity in our current facilities and God continues to bless us with more and more people seeking to be a part of Koinonia Christian Fellowship. In order to respond to this blessing by being able to welcome those who come in the future, we must provide this additional space. Our current situation clearly calls for immediate action now! When do we begin construction? Construction has already begun. The ground has been graded and drainage and gutter systems put in place. The foundation should be poured during the month of January. When is the project to be completed? The projected completion date is October 2005. What is the total project budget? $4.42 million How will the funds be raised? A large part of the funds will be commitment pledges by our members during our ÒRise and BuildÓ capital stewardship campaign January 15-March 20. We would also like to either sell or rent our current facility when the new campus is complete. Our current building has been appraised for over $800,000. How will the commitments be made? Commitments will be made either by giving weekly, monthly or annually over a three-year period. Commitment cards will be signed at the Leadership Commitment Event on March 18th and the Celebration Event on Saturday and Sunday, March 19th and 20th. Some may also be led to give non-cash gifts such as real estate, jewelry and stock. Will monetary commitments be made public? No. Absolutely not. Can commitments be changed, if necessary? Yes, you may either increase or decrease your commitment at any time the Lord leads. Will new members be asked to help fund the project? Yes. New members will be contacted by the Follow-Up Team and given the opportunity to make a commitment to the project. SUMMARY Rise and Build is a tool to reach out to our church and community through financial gifts while expanding our ministries through additional needed space. The Goal: To seek God's will, committing to give sacrificially over and beyond our regular giving for the next three years, while fulfilling Koinonia Christian Fellowship's mission statement: Making it hard to get to hell from Hanford. The Challenge: God has greatly blessed Koinonia Christian Fellowship in recent years with dramatic growth of its ministry and membership. This growth creates a challenge to provide additional educational and activities facilities for our expanding membership. The Plan: To build a new campus and facilities that will enable Koinonia Christian Fellowship to be more effective as a caring, ministering and mission-minded church. The proposed new facilities will include:
The Proposal: A $4,420,000 building program. Equal Sacrifice - Not Equal Giving |
